Aston Villa expects Darren Bent to resume full training within 12 weeks after undergoing successful ankle surgery on Monday night, after he ruptured his ankle ligaments during the recent 0-0 draw with Wigan
A club statement on Monday read: "Darren Bent underwent surgery tonight in a London clinic to repair ruptured ligaments in his left ankle. The operation was a complete success and it is expected that Darren will be able to resume full training in around 12 weeks."
That prognosis would mean Bent is likely to be back in training in early June, giving him little chance of proving his fitness before England begin their Euro 2012 campaign on June 8.
Bent, Villa's leading scorer this season with ten goals, may now be selected for Team GB at the London Olympics, which begins in late July.
