BamSliZ :EPL on fire

Tottenham Manager, Harry Redknapp has poured scorn on claims speculation over the England job is having a negative effect on the club this season.

Redknapp is the bookmakers' favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England manager, but despite the Spurs boss' insistence he remains fully focused on matters at White Hart Lane, their bid for third place has faltered after a third successive defeat at Everton over the weekend.

Spurs could have gone 13 points clear of Arsenal if they had won the north London derby a fortnight ago; now the Gunners could close the gap to a single point if they beat Newcastle tonight.

But despite Spurs' recent slump, Redknapp insists it is not linked to speculation surrounding his future and remains confident Tottenham will hold off Arsenal to finish third.

"Absolute rubbish, absolute rubbish, absolute rubbish," Redknapp said. "You saw the effort. How can it destabilise the team when they come out and play like they did and keep on going? Tottenham will be for years to come, I still think we will finish third."

Younes Belhanda.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted his interest in Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda.

Amid reports of a deal for Germany striker Lukas Podolski, Wenger has turned his attentions to the highly-rated Morocco international.

Belhanda has already expressed his desire to play in the Premier League next season, and Montpellier revealed recently they would consider selling him in the summer, but have slapped a £15 million price tag on their player.

"I know Younes well and like him a lot," Wenger said. "But I don't want to cause problems. Only Montpellier can decide where he goes."

Belhanda has also been linked with Serie A side AC Milan and French giants Paris St Germain, but the 22-year-old has already suggested he would be well suited to Arsenal.
